The main opposition party, the Partido Popular, has demanded an apology from La Sexta television station for showing an image of PP leader Mariano Rajoy when the news announcer was talking about a clown. A spokesman said a technician had made a mistake when preparing the images to be shown during the newscast, but it’s not the first time that Sr Rajoy has popped up in unexpected places. He appeared “by mistake” during a news item on the torture of Iraqi prisoners by US army personnel shown on the state-owned La 2 in 2006. He also popped up in scenes showing Catalan independentistas burning photos of the Royal Family earlier this year and last December his face appeared, by mistake again, in a news item on drunk drivers on the Antenna 3 TV station.
