The Junta de Andalucia in Sevilla got egg all over its face last week when a sharp-eyed member of the opposition party, the Partido Popular, pointed out a glaring mistake in a tourism pamphlet it had printed about the Guadalquivir area. Carlona Gonzalez held up the full-colour pamphlet in the regional parliament and pointed to what was said to be a cathedral somewhere in Andalucia. In fact, it was a photo of the cathedral in Palma de Mallorca. She accused the Junta of wasting money and bringing shame down on all Andalucians. She said: “We are the laughing stock of the rest of the country.”
