Spain has asked the United States and the Group of Six – Germany, the UK, Italy, France, Poland and Spain – to consider the creation of technical instrument that would make it possible to access e-mails sent by suspected terrorists within a maximum period of 24 to 48 hours. The Secretary of State for Security, Antonio Camacho, said aid the idea was to create a mechanism for international cooperation to prevent terrorist attacks. At present it can take months for the security forces to obtain vital information. Sr Camacho said the mechanism would hasten the process considerably by creating a network of permanent contact points to channel applications for information about suspected terrorists.
