The couple and their grown son were living in a house subsidised by the Junta de Andalucia, the parents hadn’t worked since 1991 and all three were on the dole. But they owned four cars and between them, they had 366,000 euros in several bank accounts. The movements in the woman’s bank account finally attracted the attention of the Finance Ministry’s Prevention of Money-Laundering department. When the police raided their home, they found material used for distributing drugs in small doses, knives and a gun. They are now in jail on charges of selling drugs and trying to hide the proceeds and for illegal possession of weapons. The Malaga Prosecutor has asked for a total of 29 years in jail for all three.
