INFLATION DROPS SLIGHTLY

Inflation dropped in August for the first time in four months – from 5.3% in July to 4.9% – as a result of lower oil prices, This makes the government’s forecast of less than 4% inflation at the end of the year slightly more credible, but Economy Minister Pedro Solbes was quick to point out that the forecast depended on oil prices not rising again.
