Police have said that the man who drove his car into the pedestrian mall of Calle Larios in Malaga last Saturday, injuring nine people, was born in Alhaurin el Grande and has a police record for murder. A.B.M., aged 42, was arrested at the scene minutes after the incident by an off-duty policeman who, with the help of some passers-by, dragged him from his car. Three of the injured were kept in hospital. The two most seriously injured, both women, were tourists, one from Italy and the other from Germany. Police said the man, who had been receiving psychiatric attention, was being held on charges of attempted murder and reckless driving.
