A judge decided not to prosecute a couple whose 25-day-old twin boy died of suffocation as a result of his father’s carelessness. The couple had set out from their home in Olot, Gerona province, to visit relatives. The father had stowed a carrycot in the boot of his car, not realising one of the twins was in it. The other twin was travelling in the mother’s car. It wasn’t until they arrived at their destination an hour later that the tragic mistake was discovered. They rushed the baby to the nearest hospital but he died shortly after arrival. The judge ruled that it had been a genuine mistake and filed the case.
