A two-year-old boy died in the Virgen del Rocio Hospital in Sevilla last week after having been left in the family car by his father while the latter talked to a co-worker outside the school where they worked in Camas, a small town eight kilometres away from Andalucian capital. The father said afterwards that he only left the boy for about half an hour with the air conditioning on. When he returned to the car, the child was having convulsions. The father rushed him to the local health centre ital where doctors found he had a body temperature of 43ºC. He was then transferred to the Sevilla’s main hospital where he was put on assisted breathing, but there was nothing the doctors could do to stop the child entering into a state of brain death. A Sevilla judge is investigating the case to see if any crime has been committed.
