In its latest report on employment in Malaga province, the Observatory on State Employment said 91% of people under the age of 30 in the province been affected by the current job instability. It said in 2007, 10,000 had held down five different types of jobs while nearly 2,500 had had to work at ten different jobs to make ends meet that year. A UGT trade union spokesman said it was not uncommon for a young person top work at three different jobs simultaneously to be able to earn enough money to live on. He said that temporary contracts prevailed in nine out of ten jobs in the province, with young people in the tourist industry being especially hard hit.
