The secretary of Enred.psh – National Network of Entities that work with Homeless People – told a press conference in Sevilla last week that the current economic crisis could increase the number of people who are currently living in the streets. Antonio Rodríguez estimated that there are at least 5,000 people in this situation, although this number has not been officially verified. Sr Rodríguez said the Association was working on a “reality map” to reach a more exact figure. Andalucia’s Ombudsman, José Chamizo, said that the crisis was not making itself yet in the region but warned that the number of homeless would rise by the end of the year.
