Two men and a boat which went missing three weeks after leaving Barbate in Cadiz province were rescued 300 kilometres off the Canary Islands last Friday. On reaching dry land, they said the boat went adrift because of an electrical fault shortly after leaving Barbate en rout for the Canary Islands. The boat’s owner, José Quevedo, and captain, Cristo Herrera, said they had asked for help from some 30 boats which passed them by, but none of them came to their aid. The port authorities in Barbate said they had no record of the men or the boat and the Guardia Civil are currently investigating the incident.
