More than 60 residents of several urbanisations close to the mountain on the outskirts of Alhaurin de la Torre met last Thursday night to form vigilante groups to patrol the areas at night because they feel the local Town Hall is not doing enough about the rising crime rate in the town, especially house break-ins. A council spokesman said the action was unjustified because there had only been seven break-ins in the past four months. One resident said there had been four break-ins in the same street in the past month. Another said the urbanisations were big and there were not enough National Police or Guardia Civil patrols. His house was robbed on Good Friday and he said that since then he hasn’t had one good night’s sleep.
