The College of Lawyers in Fuengirola has asked for reinforcements to cope with the increase crime rate in the town. There is only one lawyer on duty at the two courts in Fuengirola and Mijas as well as only one legal aid lawyer. They dealt with 2,716 cases last year but as of March 10th this year, 1,505 cases had already been registered, indicating that the courts’ work load will be considerably heavier this year for towns’ 419 lawyers, of whom only 113 work in the criminal area.
