A local newspaper revealed last week that the main hospitals in Malaga and the Costa del Sol have installed alarms in the consulting rooms so that doctors can summon help if a patient becomes aggressive. Hospitals in the rest of the province intend to follow suit. The administrators of the Carlos Haya Hospital decided to install 50 panic buttons three months ago after a nurse was attacked, an old lady had a rib broken during a scuffle in the cafeteria and small battle broke out in the Emergency Room. The alarm system at the Costa del Sol hospital is different. There, the F12 key on the doctors’ computers activates the alarm.
