A court in Sevilla has ordered a woman to pay a fine of 14,000 euros towards damages caused by son’s aggressive behaviour in one of the city’s secondary schools. The judge said the woman’s “laxness and tolerance” were responsible for the adolescent’s behaviour problems, while the woman tried to blame them on a lack of vigilance at the school. It was the court’s first ruling on what the judge called “incorrect education”, that is, when parents do not attempt to control their children and allow them to take objects to school which could be dangerous to others. Part of the fine will go towards the dental work needed by another student after being beaten up by the woman’s son.
