HEROIC ACT FAILED TO SAVE SOLDIER

A Guardia Civil was wounded in Kosovo early last week while rescuing a Ukranian soldier from a crowd of angry Serbs who were attacking the UN peace-keeping force there. The Guardia, who was wearing a bullet-proof vest, was slightly wounded when he threw himself on top of the soldier after someone in the crowd threw a grenade at the UN soldiers. Despite what a local official described as his “heroic act”, the soldier was hit by shrapnel and died on his way to hospital.
