Pianist Javier Perianes will perform at the Antiguo Convento de Santa Maria in Coin on Friday, March 7th, as part of an exhaustive tour of Andalucia which includes 13 venues in Malaga province. Highly acclaimed by critics and public alike, Perianes has performed as far afield as Shanghai, Berlin, Moscow, Britain, France, South America and at Carnegie Hall in New York. Born in Huelva in 1978, Perianes has received many awards and won the 43rd International Piano Competition at Jaén in 2001. Described as one of the most prestigious and challenging contests of its kind in the world, Operianes won over the jury and the audience with his depth and virtuosity. Sponsored by the Junta de Andalucia and the Ayuntamiento de Coin, tickets are free, although limited in number, and are available at the Casa de Cultura in Plaza de la Villa. The Cultural Council of Andalucia funds several music, theatre and dance events throughout the year, at little or no cost. As many shows require no knowledge of Spanish, it is worthwhile making regular visits to your local Casa de Cultura to see what is on offer in your area.
