One of the most recent opinion polls wasn’t about politics at all. Instead it concentrated on the non-political preferences of each party’s followers. For example, Socialist voters prefer brunettes, watch more Spanish cinema and use more cosmetics, while the Partido Popular supporters prefer blondes, like bullfighting, taking a siesta, and using cologne. They also drink more wine, and read more newspapers. Supporters of the various nationalist parties drink the most beer, while the United Left supporters enjoy modern art, sport and new technology. There are more Socialist vegetarians and nationalists are confirmed meat eaters. One thing supporters of the two main parties do have in common – they both prefer whiskey to brandy. The poll was carried out by the advertising agency Vitruvio Leo Burnett working with the GAD, Gabinete de Análisis Demoscópico.
