Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and opposition leader Mariano Rajoy will face each other in two debates to be televised live – the first on February 25th and the second on March 3rd, just six days before the general election. The two leaders agreed to the debates late last year but Sr Rajoy did not want them to take place at the state-owned TVE1. In a compromise reached last week, it was agreed that the debates will take place at the Television Academy and that all the other channels can show them live. Telecinco has said it will not show them, Antena 3 has still to make up its mind but TVE1, Cuatro, Sexta and Veo TV have said they will show them live.
