Marbella town council’s Tourism councillor, José Luis Hernández, returned from the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) held recently in Madrid very satisfied with the work he had done to get across the town’s regenerated image. He held 44 meetings at the fair with representatives of travel agencies, embassies, airline companies and the national and international media during which he stressed Marbella’s break with its corrupt past. He told reporters at a press conference in Marbella last week: “What we got across in Madrid was the dynamism and innovation of a town which has successfully retaken the initiative with regard to its future.” He said the Marbella stand was visited by people who were no longer doubtful about the town’s reputation for being run by corrupt officials, as had been the case in recent years: “Marbella has definitely broken with its shady image.”
