Representatives of Benalmadena town council visited 343 bars and restaurants as part of an information campaign to remind their owners of the penalties – fines of up to 600,000 euros – for selling cigarettes and alcoholic drinks to minors under the age of 18. Social Welfare councillor Francisco Salido said that once the campaign ended, controls and inspections would be stepped up. The Local Police and representatives of the Junta de Andalucia are helping with the campaign.
