Former Benalmadena mayor Enrique Bolín appeared in court last Wednesday, facing a possible eight year ban from public office for an alleged crime of perversion of the course of justice. The case concerns the ownership of as plot of land in the town which the former mayor claims belonged to the council because it did not appear in the Registry, but the prosecutor said was privately owned. Sr Bolín ordered municipal staff to clear the land, which was later used to build a bicycle track for children. Sr Bolín was charged last month in connection with the illegal sale of vehicles towed away by the municipal tow truck.
