RAJOY PROMISES TO CREATE A FAMILY SOCIAL WELFARE MINISTRY

To counter the government’s recent handouts to the parents of babies born after July 1st last year, people who look after dependents and young people to subsidise their rentals, opposition leader Mariano Rajoy has promised to create the Family and Social Welfare Ministry if he wins the March general election. He said he would raise the government’s economic help level to the European Union average, which Spain is currently well below. He also promised to introduce special employment schemes for disabled people and to continue the recently introduced monthly payment for people who look after old or sick family members.
