A hearing had to be moved to another court last Wednesday because of bad smells in the Ciudad de la Justicia in Málaga recently, the building which houses all the city’s courts, together with administrative offices and the autopsy labs. The previous week, the smell from a badly decomposed body in the autopsy labs spread throughout the building, from the basement as far as the fourth floor. Technicians have been inspecting the ventilation systems but have yet to pinpoint the cause. Apparently the labs have their own air circuits, and are not connected to the building’s main ventilation system. Union representatives and surgeons have asked for the autopsies to be put on hold until the problem is resolved.
